The Nikon D5300 24.2 MP Digital SLR Camera is an “advanced beginner” digital SLR. It’s somewhere between the entry level D3200 and the more high powered D7100. It’s aimed for those who are just new to photography, but are planning to get serious about it. This mid-range model has a smaller body, making it easier to carry around when on shoots. The D5300 is packed with a 24MP APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm) sensor. Low light performance is great with its 100 to 12800 ISO capabilities. Videos can be shot at 1920 x 1080 high resolutions at 60 fps. its 1,037,000 dot 3.2? inch LCD makes live view and shot reviews easy and comfortable.
This kit comes with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR AF-p DX NIKKOR Zoom Lens. A versatile lens to have around, you can take wide angles at 18 mm and a 55mm zoom for more details. The wide focal point range gives you a lot of use while its f/3.5 capabilities produce beautiful bokeh and more depth of field control.
The D5300 is light compared to most mid-range digital SLRs in the market. Its compact build is easy to hold and manage. Rubber details on the grip help keep the camera steady. The matte finish gives it a simple and clean look.
The 24 megapixels APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm) CMOS sensor gives high quality photos. Its primary color filter results in lifelike color replication. The D5300’s sensor works along with the fast Expeed 4 processor that cuts lag from the camera functions. It can handle 5.0 fps burst shots. All in all, the system works fast and produces great photos.
ISO and Shutter Speed Functions
ISO runs at 100 to 12800, but can reach 25600 with boost. At high ISO levels, photo quality is still clean, but you start getting some grain and noise at ISO 12800. Capture moving subject easily with the D5300’s 1/4000 sec max shutter speed.
Like all Nikon cameras, the auto-focus system runs smoothly. 39 focus points keeps subjects in focus even when in movement. The auto-focus system works well, even in dim light.
Shoot 1920 x 1080 high resolution videos at 60 fps. Videos are stored at MPEG-4, H.264 quality.
The D5300 has built-In WiFi and GPS, making sharing easier. The wide 3.2? inch, 1,037,000 dot LCD shows a clear and detailed view on live mode.
